MEET THE PACK

The Colonial Rottweiler Club (CRC) was founded in 1956 by a dedicated group of Rottweiler fanciers who sought to advance the breed’s working ability, soundness, and temperament. As the oldest active Rottweiler breed club in the United States, CRC has long been recognized as a leader in promoting the Rottweiler’s versatility — from family companion to working and performance partner.

From its beginnings in the northeastern United States, CRC quickly grew into a nationally recognized AKC Specialty Club, welcoming members from coast to coast. Through decades of camaraderie, competition, and education, CRC continues to honor the Rottweiler’s purpose: a confident, intelligent, and powerful working dog of enduring strength and loyalty.

OUR CLUB MISSION

As stated in our Bylaws, the Colonial Rottweiler Club exists to:

  • Promote the highest standards in the breeding and exhibition of purebred Rottweilers, emphasizing physical, mental, and temperamental soundness.
  • Uphold the official AKC Rottweiler breed standard as the measure of excellence by which all Rottweilers are judged.
  • Advance the interests of the breed by encouraging good sportsmanship at all shows, trials, and performance events.
  • Conduct licensed events under AKC rules, including specialties, matches, and working trials.
  • Educate owners and breeders on responsible dog ownership, health, and preservation of the breed’s natural qualities.

CRC operates as a not for profit, volunteer-run organization, committed to the ethical treatment, stewardship, and advancement of the Rottweiler breed.

RULES OF THE PACK

The CRC Code of Ethics reflects our enduring promise to safeguard the integrity of the Rottweiler.
Every member pledges to:

  • Breed only sound, healthy dogs that meet the AKC and ARC breed standards.
  • Perform essential health testing, including hip and cardiac certifications, before breeding.
  • Place puppies responsibly and support new owners with education and guidance.
  • Uphold honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship in all dealings within the Rottweiler community.

CRC’s ethical standards remain a cornerstone of membership, guiding breeders and owners to preserve the Rottweiler’s noble character and working heritage.

A Message from the Board....

“The Colonial Rottweiler Club is more than an organization — it’s a family of dedicated fanciers united by a shared love of the Rottweiler. Our goal is to educate, encourage, and inspire the next generation of responsible breeders, exhibitors, and owners.”

Director
Deb Haldeman

I have had Rottweilers since 1990. Each dog has taken me on a different path from conformation, obedience, rally, therapy dog and herding. Creating so many memories along the way. I have enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors throughout my membership with CRC serving several terms in different positions, Show Chair of the annual specialty in addition to
chairing different events for the specialty.

I’ve been a breeder, owner , handler since 1988. Im passionate about Breed Preservation and love to see a well rounded, stable Rottweiler working in venues they were bred to do.
